Peaks n Valleys Photography was established in 2000 by Steve and Kathe Haake. It grew out of 27 years of visiting the most incredible landscapes on earth and taking photos.
We graduated from UC Santa Barbara and were married in 1971. Our first overseas trip to Europe was in 1976 and we have been traveling ever since. After five traditional trips we were ready for more of an adventure. In 1994 we went to Alaska. There we found wildlife and wilderness and realized that it was time to change our focus.
Next stops were Tanzania, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, Nepal, India, China, Tibet and Bhutan. We followed the Lewis and Clark route up the Missouri River. We have been to some 25 of our National Parks, 33 countries and all seven Continents. All this time taking pictures.
I have always developed and printed my film photos. Now in the digital age it is even easier to share them with our Peaks n Valleys web site.
In the early years we left our children with my parents in Santa Barbara who took them to the beach. As they became adults we started traveling with them to Australia, France, hiking in the Alps in Switzerland. We met our son Matthew in China in the middle of his Peace Corp duty and again in India at the end. In 2018 we took our daughter Erin, her husband Eric, their children and our son Matthew to Tanzania for a photo Safari.
Kathe has already signed us up for a cruise around Iceland next year.
